Growing Beetroot Plants

Growing beetroot plants is very simple, with them being very low maintenance, suitable for cool temperatures, and quick to mature.

Beetroot plants grow best in well-drained, fertile soil that's been enriched with well-rotted garden compost or manure (such as Orgro). We recommend that before planting, it's best to rake in a handful of general-purpose fertiliser per square metre.

When planted, ensure that your soil is always moist, as dry soil can cause your plants to develop woody roots. Mulching your plants with organic matter can help with this. Once your roots have reached golf ball size, generally about June, they will be ready for harvesting.
