Sow morning glory seeds indoors or in a greenhouse from late spring to early summer, May at the latest, to give them enough time to establish before being planted outside. If you are starting them outdoors, wait until after the last frost has passed and the soil has warmed up, typically around May or early June. These particular flower seeds require warmth to germinate, so avoid sowing them in cooler conditions.
Start morning glory seeds in small pots or trays using well-drained compost. Soak the seeds overnight before sowing to encourage them to germinate. Plant the seeds about 1cm (1/2in) deep and keep the compost moist but not waterlogged.
Once seedlings emerge, transplant them outdoors after the risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot with rich, well-drained soil, and provide support such as trellises or wires for the vines to climb. Water your morning glories regularly and feed with a general-purpose fertiliser during the growing season.
