Product Description
This great collection contains 4 packets of different coloured beetroot:
Boltardy : Britain's best-loved beet, it can be sown earlier than most with little fear of bolting. The roots are deep red and of good quality and flavour, yielding well in most soils.
Burpees Golden : Keeps its golden flesh when cooked, its uniquely sweet flavour is balanced by a traditional beetroot earthiness. The tender young leaves can be treated as greens.
Chioggia : This old Italian favourite shows alternate red and white rings when sliced - just the job for adding interest to salads. Its flavour is mild and most appealing. Roots become pink when cooked.
Albina Vereduna : This ‘old timer’ originates in the Netherlands, where it was valued for its lovely sweet flavour. Unusual for its white skin and flesh, it really is a worthwhile variety and not simply a ‘novelty’. The leaves are also tasty and can be treated as spinach.
