Heralding the fast-approaching summer, tulips with their bold and easily recognisable blooms are synonymous with spring in its full glory. Great in formal or informal displays, in container or borders, there’s a shade to act as a foil in any mixed planting scheme or simply planted en masse to grand effect.
Flowering year on year, tulips do well in most decent soil types, but dislike any that is excessively wet, in full sun or partial shade. We recommend dead-heading once the blooms begin to fade and feeding with a fertiliser for a few weeks for stronger bulbs next season.
Signifying that spring has arrived, bulbs create splashes of colour throughout the garden and they are perfect for planting into patio pots and window boxes. Easy to grow and care for, they will bloom with the minimum of attention and are great for cutting too.
